Destruction of Guest Room #1

When we first got the house back in August 2009, it was disgusting! We went to town pulling up carpet, tile, etc. just to make it livable. One of the 'must go' items in this room was the popcorn ceiling.

Once we removed the carpet and the ceiling and gave it a nice hose down, this became our guest bedroom/Colin's dressing room. It housed my old computer, bed and Colin's dresser from when he was a little guy. It was more of a storage room than a guest bedroom.

Anyway here we are in June and the last project we did was the outside storage room/new wall for the dining room back in March/April. And all of us who know Colin know he can't sit still for long, so here we go with the guest bedroom #1 revamp!

June 4, 2011 - Colin tore down two of the walls and half of one to inspect the insulation. He also tore out the closet shelving. The outside wall was insulated well and we insulated the other walls for sound proofing purposes.


He also rewired the entire room. Now there are not several outlets or switches grouped together. A smoke detector was also tied into the newly wired system. Up go the wallsWhat hole in the middle of the ceiling?All the walls are nice and smooth after several mudding and sanding go rounds. The ceiling gave us the most trouble in this room. After sanding the walls and ceiling, Colin went out of town for business. In order to keep our timeline I had to prime the walls and ceiling myself. All went well until I got to the ceiling. The primer started to bubble and I couldn't fix it. The next day when Colin got home he tried with no success. We sanded and mudded the ceiling at least five more times where the bubbles appeared. Finally, NO BUBBLES!!!Walls primed and ready for the color coat! (Outlet at eye level for eventual tv mount)Cutting in the khaki colored paint.
