Sabre Baker

Playing with Jayda in the yard for the first time.

Again, we are not having a baby but we have added to the family!! Colin is no longer the only male and Jayda finally has a brother or a lover. We are letting her decide. Sabre has joined our brood. We adopted him from the Arizona
Weimeraner Rescue. This adoption was almost as tedious as adopting a kid.
Rebecca, the founder of the Rescue, had us fill out a very long application asking everything from where would he sit in the car to who would watch him when we went on trips. Then we had a meet and greet with her, so she could come check out the house and yard. Then she brought Sabre over to see how he would interact with
Jayda and most important of all, Nona. That visit went very well. Nona slapped him in the face and he walked away, eager to see what else was around. But last night was epic! Colin, Chris (our
roommate), Courtney (my younger sister), and I went to her house. As we waited at the door we heard all kinds of barking. When she opened the door a sea of grey
weimies came running out. It was mayhem and fun all at the same time. I have never seen so many of one breed at one time. Some were in cages, some were laying in bed, some were sitting in chairs like they were humans. It was crazy! I think my sister has some pics from her phone. Jayda was freaked out a bit. She is not used to that many dogs and as usual she submitted immediately and spent most of the night on her back. Colin picked her up after she started to get trampled.
From Courtney's phone...Colin tried to put Louie back into his kennel but all he did was lean against Colin with eyes that said, "please!".

Moving back to the main man at hand.... I must say that Sabre was definitely the more
handsome of the bunch. He is hilarious! He runs like goofy or a galloping horse. He doesn't quite know how to handle his body. When Rebecca rescued him he was about 115 lbs. She put him on a diet and now he weighs about 85 lbs. However, he still needs to lose about 10 lbs. You can feel all the blubber on his chest. He makes Jayda look like a midget and he can't really jump on you cause he is to heavy. He definitely needs some training. He doesn't understand basic commands and he barely comes to the call of his name. Overall, he is a pretty mellow dog. We haven't even heard him bark yet.
Apparently, the night before we picked up Sabre, he had a little going away party. Rebecca found him in the morning sick as a dog laying next to a liter bottle of spiked eggnog. He had drank more than half the bottle. He is fine now. However, this morning he did puke up all his breakfast. I am not sure if his tummy still hurts or if he was trying to eat as quickly as possible because Jayda was trying to steal his food.

Oh and you should have seen Nona's face when we got home. Usually she greets us at the front door but last night when we pulled up, it was if she already knew. She was perched on the couch giving us the stank eye out the front window. Nona is still the reigning queen of the house. She still sleeps with us every night, and she knows this! :)

Nona/Sabre meet and greet
Since Sasha (Chris' dog) left, Jayda has been sleeping with Chris at night. Since we got our new bedset, she is no longer allowed on the big bed. Both Colin and Jayda are very sad about this transition. Anywho, last night when he got Sabre home, he got a nice bath and then went off to bed with Chris and Jayda. Thank goodness Sabre came with his own bed. Jayda's jealous streak broke in and didn't let him on the bed. Oh Jayda!

Going to Chris' room to get in bed
