Thanksgiving Break in Phoenix....11.25.2010 - 11.28.2010

Our Thanksgiving break this year was crazy! We decided to deep fry a turkey for our family get together. My dad had fried a turkey one year but I couldn't remember how he did it. Colin couldn't remember exactly how his family had done it in the past either, so he looked it up on the internet. He found a Cajun/beer marinade too. They recommended we use a dark ale, so we used this Trader Joe's Seasonal Dark Ale. We fried the turkey and it came out black. However, it was just the skin. The turkey was very juicy underneath but it had the distinct taste of the beer. It was good none the less.

So this year Colin and I decided not to part take in Black Friday, like we did last year by camping out all hours of the night in front of Target. But in the end we gave in and we were at the opening of four different stores starting at the 3am opening of Kohl's. I know we are ridiculous. The rest of the day was spent running errands to get ready for another Thanksgiving event that we were going to be hosting. That night we stayed up until about 2am, putting up the christmas tree, building furniture, and mounting the tv to the wall. It turned out quite nice!

Wondering why we weren't in bedEven after all the sleep deprivation, we managed to roll out of bed the next morning and drive to Florence, AZ for my cousin's wedding. We had a good time dancing. Colin got a taste of what he's in store for on our big day. :)
We left the wedding a little early and booked it home to finish cleaning the house, put the final christmas decorations up, oh yeah and colin cut the leggings of our bed off at 12 o'clock in the morning? ;) I love you Colin! Then we proceeded to get out of bed early finish cleaning and start cooking. We had all my girlfriends over at noon for our annual Thanksgiving feast. Colin deep fried another turkey but this time he left the beer out of the marinade. It still came out black but the meat was delicious!!!

All my girlfriends from high school - the guys were too busy watching footballIt was a very exhausting weekend but I had a great time in the process. Great food and beautiful people. We are very thankful!
